ONE WATER CYCLE: Climate Change and the Ocean Habitat

Project Description

In this course, students learn about the impact of climate change on the ocean habitat. This includes extremely warm climates, extremely cold climates, and natural phenomena that occur based on temperature. This unit is grounded in the Law of Tolerance: a set of environmental conditions within which an organism can best survive and reproduce. Factors that impact the Law of Tolerance are: Salinity, pH, Temperature, and Oxygen Level. Each of these (abiotic) factors will impact different things in the ecosystem and students will experience those changes through chemistry lab work. Students will explore different BlueTech careers related to these concepts and investigate how these changes impact our world as a whole. They will take action as they compare and contrast two environments, the difference between temperatures, and impact on growth of plants and animals. Students will utilize the advice of experts and create an ideal state campaign in the medium of their choice to encourage others to take action as well.
