ONE WATER CYCLE: Ocean Trash - The Last Straw

Project Description 

In this project, students will learn about human impacts on water ecosystems and explore opportunities to make a positive impact on the environment. Students will work in small teams to make video Public Service Announcements that will highlight various topics including watershed pollution, microplastics, and entanglement and endangerment of marine wildlife species. Students will learn about how ethos, pathos, and logos will empower their audience to make a change in their daily actions and strengthen the content of their PSA.

 

Essential Question

What are the main sources of pollution in our watershed? 

  • How can we ensure the watershed is a clean resource for the community?
  • What is the significance of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch?
  • How does trash get to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch?
  • How does ocean pollution directly or indirectly impact species?
  • How do trash booms impact the health of an ecosystem?
